French And Indian WarEurope's view - 1689–1763, American historians' name given to the North American colonial wars between Great Britain and France in the late 17th and the 18th century. The campaigns were really for the worldwide struggle for British/French Empire. although the "war" was for Canada, the American West, and the West Indies, the outcome of war in Europe had more effect in determining the winner than the fighting in the Americas. US View - (1754 - 1763) The war was started by George Washington at the age of 22 in a Western Pennsylvania skirmish. The struggle for control of the colonies of the New World resulted in a series of wars between the French and the British supported by their colonial and Native American allies. The war ended with the capture of Quebec and Montreal.
